Marty Blocker

Marty is a working cowboy and ranch hand for a large cattle operation southwest of Cody Nebraska just north of the Snake River. Plying his trade gives him a lot of subject matter for his poems and an edge of authenticity in his works. Besides writing his own poems Marty also recites the works of past and present masters presenting a wider range of styles and stories. 

He was the All-Around High Point winner of the 2007 National Cowboy Poetry Rodeo in Hot Springs, South Dakota. He was a featured artist at the 2010 National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nevada this past January. He has been featured on the cover of The Cowboy Magazine and also the Nebraska Life Magazine. He has performed in eight different states but he likes the high plains region the best.

If it's riding colts, feeding with a team, branding or just plain making a living on the ranch, Marty likes to share and promote the good and sometimes not so good way of life that is waning from our western folklore.
